You know how I've been going round telling people East London is much safer and nicer than dodgy old West London? Well, tonight I got mugged on my way to Leytonstone Tube. They took my phone (which was not insured) and about £30 in cash. They were kind enough to give me my keys and cashcards back.

I feel a bit shaky but Trish is on her way here now.

Good news: Orange actually allow you to retroactively insure your phone after it's been stolen, for £30. This is such an amazing bargain (my phone has an RRP of £279) that I must tell you all to go out and buy Orange phones right now. Oh, and vote Labour if this IMEI blacklisting thing actually works (which the police seemed very unsure it would).

Please don't post sympathy stuff - I really hate me-too sympathy posts.

On the other hand, please do post or email me your phone numbers and details of what you think my schedule is over the next month or so.

Shit, that phone had porn on it. How embarassing.

An ex-girlfriend of mine once gave one of my old handsets away while I was at work, to a male friend of hers. She then rang me up a couple of hours later and screamed at me for leaving some of the more pornographic SMS she'd sent me saved on the pay-as-you-go SIM which was still in it  :)

I just tried to do so. But as the Luton Orange store insisted I can't port-in my old phone number to pre-pay, I didn't. (The web-site assures me I can, but if that's a typical level of Orange staff knowledge I'm not using them.)
