Yay! My antiPod arrived. Amazon took two weeks to tell me they didn't have any, so I went to MillerPC who delivered one in about 22 hours. It cost slightly more but I think it's worth it to be dealing with a company that actually has what you're trying to buy.
Argh! My work desktop gave me an electric shock when I plugged the USB cable in. Health and safety at work, rah!
Double yay! Getting the thing connected and working under Linux took about two minutes. Still slower than with a Mac, which was instant, but improving.
Double arse! The VFAT filesystem on the thing won't allow files with ? or : in the name. I have some renaming to do...
ohh
Date: 2004-01-21 10:28 pm (UTC)The second display - is that an inline remote? Or seperate?
As to the file renaming... thats a bit of an arse...
Thats a definate problem with the iriver then??
Umm... Not alot of songs : in, (unless I've downloaded them) - but I know I have some with ? in that I've ripped.
Still
Looks nice.
Oooh - just spotted the FM reciever - that even better!
But... Must spend money on the house... Really... Umm...
Temptation!

Date: 2004-01-21 10:44 pm (UTC)The filename thing - I suppose it is a problem with the iRiver, but I assumed it was because it was using a Windows filesystem inside - can you really create files with "?" and ":" in the name on Windows? I thought not but I could be wrong. I fixed them all in about 10 minutes anyway.
