I think we unpacked the last box yesterday.

I guess that makes us efficient.

It's starting to feel less weird living there - I no longer think we're going to be firebombed at any minute, which is good.

Now I just need to sort out what to do with the rest of my life...

PS: what Trish says ↓ down there ↓ about the contacting.

When we were in the process of buying our house the bloke next door told us that the previous tenant had been (done for? accused of? it was a bit unclear - this was later explained, though...) some variety of sex offence, & that as a result people had been chucking things at the house, & even that he'd once had to dissuade a bunch of kids from sticking lit things through the letterbox.

This gave us The Fear something shocking, & we were seriously contemplating ditching the house (this was already in the paid for survey & mortgage fee phase) & trying again.

Then we spoke to the local police, who informed us that in *fact* the deal was that Mr Next Door had had some variety of feud with the previous tenants (who sounded like a bit of a nightmare - it was being illegally sub-let to lots of temporary people, with up to 12 people in one 3-bed house). And that it was, in fact *him* who had spread these entirely unfounded rumours about said tenant(s), & as a result had wound up with people breaking *his* window when they got confused about which house was which. (the police officer also implied that Mr Next Door is in general a right pain in the arse, & racist to boot) Since when the house had been empty for about 6 months, & the *official* letting agents confirmed No Further Trouble.

So we went ahead anyway, & even decided against the firebomb-proof letterbox we'd contemplated installing. And - touch wood - no trouble of any sort has appeared. And we smile politely at Mr Next Door when passing him, & otherwise steer well clear.

Good.

(Incidentally, I ended up with exactly the right number of boxes - none were wasted, and none further were needed.)
