We're going to go to see both Trish's and my family this year, so we're hiring a car. This will mean a lot of driving, and I want to do a lot of listening to music.

Would anyone be able to lend me one of those FM transmitters from the 24th to the 28th? Or recommend a way to buy one that would mean I would actually get one before Christmas?

I thought those things were illegal here?

Although how they figure out which car hurlting 70mph along a motorway has it I don't know :P

I've got the one I picked up in LA for such purposes which is...somewhere. Will have a hunt for it in the next week (it can't have gone far) and hand over as and when.

Right, have just had a look in the Box of Technology (where I thought it would be) and it's not there. Will have another hunt later in the week, but it may not turn up until I've moved house on Dec 19th and have unpacked properly. In short - if you'd like to get your hands on one before the week that you leave, you may not want to rely on me for this.

The alternative might be to buy one of those cassette adaptor thingummies - anything between £5 and £20 depending on quality and vendor.

Come to think of it, this is probably not a brilliant bet - most modern cars will have a CD player, not a cassette ... and you've probably thought of this. Ah well.

Maybe time to blow a lot of CDs? *grin*

Try IPodWorld which includes models by Griffin which seem to be very popular. However I have read that reception can be tricky in areas with lots of FM radio stations like London, and because the transmitter is inside a metal cage (i.e. the car), with the aerial on the outside.

No problem. I can't remember whether mine's at home or whether [livejournal.com profile] lolliepopp still has it, but you're welcome to borrow it for that period.
