I wondered that too, but the programme made it clear if you just extrapolate: on one hand my ring finger's longer than the index, and on the other, it isn't. Which means that half of me got a lot of testerone in utero, and fancies ladies, and the other half doesn't, and fancies chaps.
(This is all because I had half an older brother.)
I really have to work out which half of me is which, because if I use my lesbian hand to touch a straight chap's cock it'll probably shrivel up and drop off.
The problem was that Mr Barrowman was clearly desperate to prove that homosexuality is inherited, and so were many of the "scientists" he talked to; and surprisingly enough all sorts of flimsy evidence was accepted as fact.
The only counterpoint was one of the crazy religious "ex-gay" people, next to whom any thesis would look reasonable.
No one said "Hang on, why does acquired vs inherited matter? People should be free to sleep with who they like." The model of human sexuality consisted of straight men, gay men, straight women and (in some and only some cases) lesbians. If the hypothesis you're presenting is that differing levels of testosterone in the womb make gay men more "woman-like", shouldn't you at least say something about transgender?
Grr. The problem I have is that the world view which so many of these people seem to be promoting (and lets not get into the whole mess of using science to do that!) is that you're gay or straight, this is settled at birth, and other options aren't really there. You can still do lots of things "wrong". Doesn't seem like much of a step forward to me.
