I was sufficiently frustrated by the Marilyn Manson cover to want to try to warez the original. No, not the Marc Almond / Soft Cell, but the nice upbeat Gloria King one.

Boy, has that song been covered by a lot of people. Not just the two I knew about, but also Depeche Mode, INXS, Cure and Inspiral Carpets.

Unfortunately I'm having difficulty getting hold of any of them. Stupid Gnutella!

And Coil. The version by Coil is very worth hearing.

Yes, the Clash... I'd really like the Clash's version of Tainted Love.

Audiogalaxy has versions by The Cure and Depeche Mode, possibly others too.

Was going to be surprised at your dislike of the MM version, then read that you're out for the original one. That would explain it, then.
Gloria King?? Wait a minute. Her name was Gloria *Jones* - was she married before, then? ~curious~

Er, anyway. Northern Soul. ~shudder~

If you get hold of the DM or Cure version, I'd love to hear them someday...

And I don't like anything MM did. I'm a raver, remember?

Doesn't mean you can't appreciate *good* music, too.

...but not fast enough, sadly...

...to avoid what, exactly? ~g~
Or shouldn't I ask?

I've just had the Hafler Trio version recommended to me by my flatmate Jon.

A compilation CD of versions is clearly needed, to drive us all even more mad.
