My mouse has stopped working. I took it to bits to see if there was anything obviously wrong, and when I put it back together there was an extra bit. And it still didn't work.

Then, Hannah rang me on the landline. The phone (which has been emitting a gentle fizzing noise for a while) started to make a drony whine too. I had to keep asking her to speak up so I could hear her over the drone.

Cordless stuff - grrrrrrrr.

is your mouse one of those shiny Microsoft optical ones? I had one of those that did that. Reinstalling the drivers helped temporarily, but then it packed up again and couldn't be salvaged.

No, it'a a logitech cordless. And I don't think it can be drivers, as it packed up simultaneously in Win98 and XFree86.

Bloody computers.
