I know BiCon 2002 is very soon, but I'm trying to build a website for BiCon 2003. I want to have something up by the time BiCon 2002 comes around. And I want some photos taken at previous BiCons to put on it. Do you have any? Preferably of people enjoying themselves, preferably in electronic form. Oh, and not obscene, or featuring people who don't like having their photo taken.

You could post URLs here, or mail them to simon@macmullen.fsnet.co.uk (but not if it's 100s of megabytes - I only have a modem). In return you'll get a picture credit, and... well, that's it really. I'm not made of money.

(Paul, if you're reading this, can you post a link to this in [livejournal.com profile] bicon2002? That would be great...)

I have some photos, the vast majority of fully clothed ppl, from both 2000 and 2001. They are mainly of ciphergoth, ergotia, lilithmanga, countess_sophia and kitty_goth if memory serves. I'll try and look them out, edit them down to about, say, 800x600 for web-use, and pass them on. I would expect that images of the ppl mentioned would be OK for use on the site, but I didn't ask for permission to publish them on-line, so 1) I won't send you any pictures that isn't of "our friends" (as it were) and 2) you should ask anyone pictured before using them.

If I can find them, that is.

Certainly you're welcome to use anything taken of me in a public space! Check for other stuff...

I am generally very happy for photos of me to be used freely, but I like to check first to weed out any really unflattering ones. Not that there are many of those.....

Darling, I'm sure there can be hardly any!

Besides, an unflattering photo (regardless who of) isn't a good advert for BiCon...

I have various non-electronic photos - and access to a scanner.

Do we need permission from people who are in the photos? I remember this caused trouble when a group Bicon photo was used for making a leaflet one time - a person objected to the small, grainy and hardly recogniseable image of their face appearing.

Isn't it made *very* clear at BiCon that you shouldn't be in the group photo if you don't want your image being made public? I remember a small group of ppl standing away from the throng when the pic was taken.

And you really should get permission if you have photos of ppl who you don't know well enough to know that they'd give their permission. Some ppl are very sensitive about their image appearing at things like BiCon and Fetish/BDSM events - if I'm taking a shot, I try my best to keep bystanders out of it, and to be seen to be doing so. And one should edit out ppl who do end up in the background, which it's pretty normal to do anyway.

We have prints that we could lend you for you to scan. Again you may want to check with the people in the pics before using them. H or myself could bring them to the LL on Friday if you want them?
