On the subject of how to reopen communication with your ex-girlfriend, to tell her that her PC has a virus...

Oh, is that why I got a random email from her?

We use Outlook Express. This is where I normally get emails from Jenny through the clique mailing list. However, this evening I got one from her, on my hotmail account, which seemed to be directed at someone else. My hotmail account is now unreacheable. Do you think that's connected?

So did you get an email from her with a virus? I've emailed her via cliquemail and mentioned that she may have one.

If you're working tomorrow then are you sure you can make it to Clapham for lunch? I could meet you in town briefly after work if that's easier...

Hotmail is back up and working, so presumably things are OK.

Jenny is in town this weekend btw - am hoping to persuade her to come to LL and Popstarz. Just so you know.

The virus I got from her is BugBear, and my copy of McAfee killed it as soon as it arrived, so I don't think it's that new. There's an information page about it here, and you can download a nice little removal tool for it here.

We did get a copy of that sent to our Outlook account. I deleted it cos we weren't expecting to be sent an attachment and it arrived at the wrong address anyway. But given how Outlook works I'm going to run a full scan just in case.

... that would suck...

I think I would just sit back and not tell her...

Bit snide perhaps?
