Can I just say how incredibly pleased I am that not only does Dell's server management software require Red Hat 7.3, it also requires a very specific kernel version (2.4.18-4, yes, down to the vendor patchlevel) which is newer than the one that ships with the OS, yet older that the one available from Red Hat's website. Dell should be shot. All of them. Bastards.

Update: I finally found a copy of 2.4.18-4 on a stale mirror site, and guess what? That doesn't work either, unless the kernel has been compiled from source. Fuckers fuckers fuckers fuckers fuckers.

Thats unfortunate...

I've read in other places how Dell are usually pretty good with their Linux support for servers... Certainly ol' Lockergnome likes to go on about em.

Heh - Suppose you can always call and shout at them??

Wierd.

Errm - you tried the Dell message boards for support? I have found them helpful when battling with the F**ing Intel 10/100/1000 NIC's...

Laterz

n good luck!
