House is looking good. We've managed to get mostly unpacked, things are working, and I've been dead butch with lots of diy and sawdust everywhere. We did have to get an electrician in to strip out all the dodgy DIY electrics left by the previous owner (4-way socket strips installed permanently in the garden!), and we're getting builders in to remove the similarly craptastic built-in furniture he infested the place with, but I've done a fair bit myself.

We're not going to redecorate until the new year though, so anyone who wants to see the worlds worst wallpaper is more than welcome to visit. I think [livejournal.com profile] webcowgirl was right in describing it as a bad '70s remodel, except most of it looks to have been done since 2000...

But the ugliness is transitory and the huge amount of space we have will be permanent.

I hope everyone's been happy in the last week while we've been incommunicado.

Fucking hell that's a lot of rain. The garden is 10 cm underwater.

I know because I went out in it. Seemed like a good idea at the time. When I came back in the rain got harder. For about a minute it rained so hard that the gutters couldn't handle the load and water started entering the house via the central heating boiler vent and the back door (at quite a rate too!) We poured it down the sink, and the sink didn't drain.

Shit. That was biblical.

This guy was annoyed at his neighbours for stealing his WiFi. Solution: divide the network in half, do weird things to traffic from unknown MAC addresses...

Bicon 2006 photos.

No real names are used. I *believe* we have permission to put all those up with that proviso. If I am wrong please tell me.

I want to sell my TEAC reference 300 system. This includes CD, Radio, Amp and Minidisc (no speakers though). I'd want about £75 for it. Any takers before I try to fathom the mysteries of ebay?

(Yes, I should try to write about my life or something...)

I was talking about in ten years time being able to rip your book collection and reclaim your living room.

This Japanese guy's doing it now.

Go listen to The Beastles.

I can't find the link to the second album again; if anyone likes the first I can give it to you.

Garfield is not particularly funny.
This dadaist reinterpretation is much funnier.

Photos from the rubber party later, but for now I will point out that my fetish katamari contains:

* Rubber hood, with pinprick eyes and capability for lacing.
* "Anger" and "Nihilism" rubber band things
* "Olympus C-220 Zoom" camera
* Small makeup case
* Grey tights

So can the owners get in touch?

Thanks to everyone who came, I had a fab time, and we were all gorgeous.

For Katy, seen in Google ads:

Personalized Vampire Book
170-page vampire romance novel starring you & your beloved.

"Remember: You co-author Vampire Kisses by selecting the heroine, hero and heroine's best friend - and even your dog or cat!"

Actually, I'll try not to remember that.

In case anyone else is confused, I would like to point out the March of the Penguins is not a cartoon.

It's still cute, mind.

We're going to go to see both Trish's and my family this year, so we're hiring a car. This will mean a lot of driving, and I want to do a lot of listening to music.

Would anyone be able to lend me one of those FM transmitters from the 24th to the 28th? Or recommend a way to buy one that would mean I would actually get one before Christmas?
